The new Benevolus site was launched on 12 December 2006 introducing a point purchase facility and speed up the process of buying and sending charity eCards
We have launched with improved core functionality needed for buying and sending eCards based on customer feedback and plan to add to this functionality in the future. Not all functionality from the old site has been carried forward, we have carried across the most popular functions for now.
We welcome your feedback on the new site and would really like to hear your constructive comments, which you can submit to us at the end of this page.
Purchasing points/topping up your account
You can purchase points once you have registered with Benevolus.com by going to Your Account on the top right hand corner of the website or during the card creation process, when you are logged in.
Creating your card
To send eCards through Benevolus.com you need to be a registered member.
You can start browsing for cards and will be prompted to create an account during the card creation process or you can sign up straight away by going to the Your Account link.
It's very simple to create a card: choose a card from the Designs section of the site. When viewing a card, to the right of that card will be the "compose" instructions for that card/or register/login first. Once you've composed your message you will be presented with a new screen so that you can preview/edit your message, enter recipients email addresses, select a charity and schedule your delivery date.
If you don't have any credits/points, you can purchase them at this stage (or by clicking on Your Account if you are logged in).
Sending to a list of people
Organise your email address list and separate by a comma (this is the preferable and most reliable option), space or have each email address on new lines. It's a good idea to prepare these in a document or notepad before copying and pasting into your "Recipients" box.
Receiving eCards
An email will be sent to each recipient's email address using "Benevolus eCards [cards@benevolus.com]" email address in the "from" field of the email. In the subject field will be "(Your name/company name that you registered with) has sent you a charity eCard from Benevolus.com" and in the email it will say:
From: Benevolus eCards [cards@benevolus.com]
Subject: (Your name/company name that you registered with) has sent you a charity eCard from Benevolus.com
Message:
Hi there!
You have been sent a Charity ecard by (Your name/company name that you registered with).
To view the card online, please click the following link or paste the address into your web browser.
http://www.benevolus.com/card/view/(card number)

The art of giving
These details will help the recipient recognise who the email is being sent from. This will increase the amount of people who open your email and view your card. There will be a link to the eCard in the email which will open up an Internet browser window with your chosen card and message and charity chosen.
Why didn’t the person I sent my eCard to receive it?
99% of the time it is a typing error. But sometimes we have found that it is an out of date email address that is no longer being collected. Please double-check the accuracy of your recipient's email address. However, if you find the email address to be correct, their Internet Service Provider (ISP) could be routing eCard notifications to a bulk or spam folder - Yahoo is known to do this. Therefore, the eCard you sent to them maybe sitting in their spam folder. Also, if it is a work email address, some workplaces have strict policies in place for receiving only known email sender addresses and will have a firewall on their server to stop all other emails. We use your email address (the sender) in the "from" field to increase the chances of your eCard getting through and being viewed.

To sign up to receive latest news and offers from Benevolus, complete the "Sign up to our Newsletter" boxes on the home page.
To unsubscribe, go to the home page and beneath the Subscibe button there is a link "Change your subscription options"; click this and enter your email address.
I want to update my Charity's profile page
You are able to update your Charity's profile page yourself.
Login to your account with your username and password ("Your Account" is at the top of the screen).
Then click on the link "Change Profile".
You can then edit the words in here and even upload your charity's logo.Don't forget to click the "Update Profile" button at the bottom of the screen.
